Ben Barrowman is the creator/author of The Parmesan Pig Series, stories that have reached thousands of children across the country through his school/library author visits and public appearances.
In addition to writing, Ben works professionally with Veteran organizations, behavioral health specialists, and suicide prevention coordinators to strengthen support systems for military and Veteran families. The same values that guide his professional work in wellness, resilience, and kindness shine throughout each book in the Parmesan Pig series.
Ben earned his MBA from The College of Saint Rose and his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a Physics minor from Stonehill College.
Ben is married to his hometown sweetheart, Lauren, who works as an elementary school special education teacher. They have two children, Connor and Jane, and the family continues to make their home in Upstate New York, where both Ben and Lauren grew up. The oldest of four siblings, Bob, Beth and Bill... Ben traces his interest in rhyme back to the roll calls growing up.
Ben has a passion for healthy living and wellbeing. As a type-1 diabetic himself, he has dedicated himself to the local Diabetes fundraisers – including the American Diabetes Tour De Cure, previously serving as a team captain, corporate spokesman, and member of the executive committee. He emphasizes routine exercise and maintains a healthy diet, including an alcohol-free lifestyle. Ben supports and stays in contact with friends who strive to live sober.
